Role of SSDR site representatives
Social Science Data Resources (SSDR) site representatives act as local key
contacts for ESDS and
Census.ac.uk and associated UK census service providers. ESDS and
census data users can
contact their local SSDR site representative for information about
these services.
What site representatives do for ESDS/Census services:
-
test and provide feedback on new versions of the ESDS and Census.ac.uk systems
-
disseminate literature appropriately about the services within their
institutions
-
help host social science and census workshops
-
act as a port-of-call for social science data-related queries (to supplement
the existing ESDS and Census.ac.uk help desks)
In return site representatives will:
-
be the first to hear about new developments from the ESDS and Census.ac.uk
-
receive copies of UK Databytes and UK Data Archive News
-
have privileged access to free social science or census workshops
-
receive pertinent user statistical information if required
-
and, on request, be given ESDS and Census.ac.uk promotional materials for
display in their local institution
A closed
JISCmail list exists to facilitate effective communication with and
between the site representatives: SSDR-reps@jiscmail.ac.uk
An inaugural meeting for the site
representatives was held on 5 December 2003 at the Royal Statistical Society,
London.
The latest meeting for site representatives took place on 13 February 2009:
