Sharing data
The use of data obtained via an archive or supplied by the UK Data Archive is restricted by the terms and conditions outlined in the host
archive's own User Undertakings and in the
End User Licence that all users sign when registering for a UK Data Archive account for the purpose of obtaining qualitative
data via the UK Data Archive. Sharing data with others is in breach of these agreements and penalties may be incurred.
If data is required for teaching, registration with the UK Data Archive is expected. Using Your
account, register a new use of data, tick the 'Teaching only' option, and
place an order for the required data. All students registered with ESDS should
be added to your usage details. Any students not registered with ESDS should
sign the Access Agreement for
Teaching form (to be returned to the UK Data Archive). Subsequent to your
class or at the same time as registering your teaching usage, you should also
add the total number of students to the registered usage details. Students using
data for their own research, e.g. for a PhD or an MPhil, are classifed as
researchers.
Data obtained via the UK Data Archive can only be passed on to others by adding these people to a chosen project for your own user account. Please
consult the UK Data Archive Restrictions on use web page.
