ESDS Qualidata teaching resource: re-using qualitative research - The Last Refuge

ESDS Qualidata has prepared teaching materials that demonstrate how qualitative data can be re-used. This resource, based on The Last Refuge, has activities that can be used in the classroom or as self-paced learning activities. The aim is to think critically about the project's methodology and information provided by the data and what kinds of opportunities and challenges these might present for re-use of that data.

This teaching resource incorporates a selection of the qualitative material collected during the course of the Peter Townsend’s 1950s Last Refuge study, which was a major investigation of long-stay institutional care for old people in Britain. The study was groundbreaking in its use of qualitative research methods.
