Date: 13 March 2009 Location: Park Crescent Conference Centre, London
This one day conference, on 13 March 2009, is organised by the Economic and Social Data Service (ESDS) as part of the ESRC Festival of Social Science. The conference brings together key speakers from the natural and social science research communities to highlight existing data sharing policies and initiatives.
The key note speaker is Mark Walport, Director of the Wellcome Trust who will speak on the findings of the recent Data Sharing Review commissioned by the Government in 2008.
Representatives from the UK Research Councils, and other major funders will highlight aspects of their own data sharing policies. The day will showcase some existing innovative and practical solutions to data management and sharing in the UK, and provide an opportunity to discuss requirements and infrastructures for preparing and accessing research-generated materials.
The UK Data Archive will also be launching the latest version of its Guidance on Data Management and Sharing aimed at researchers and repository managers who curate research data, bringing in important clarification on consent, confidentiality, intellectual property rights and data security.
The meeting is free to attend, but places are limited so booking is essential.
