National Child Development Study (NCDS) and 1970 British Cohort Study (BCS70): a workshop for potential users

Date: 27 March 2008
Location: Institute of Education, London

On Thursday 27 March 2008, the Centre for Longitudinal Studies (CLS) will hold a one-day introductory workshop on the 1958 National Child Development Study (NCDS) and the 1970 British Cohort Study (BCS70). This event, organised jointly by the CLS and the Economic and Social Data Service (ESDS), is open to researchers considering using data from the most recent sweeps of the surveys.

The taught component of the workshop includes:

  • survey design, data coverage and methodology
  • patterns of attrition
  • an introduction to the Idealist data dictionary
  • accessing the data via ESDS

During the hands-on component participants will have the opportunity to carry out SPSS or Stata analyses using subsets of NCDS/BCS70 data, with support from members of the CLS cohort studies team.

These workshops are arranged two to three times a year. If you wish to attend this workshop, complete the online booking form. There is a non-refundable charge of £60 (£30 for HE students) for attending, which includes lunch and workshop documentation.

When booking, please indicate whether you are interested in using SPSS or Stata software.
