This database contains an up-to-date array of comparative education statistics and indicators from OECD and non-OECD countries. It provides information on the human and financial resources invested in education, on access to, progression and completion of education, on how education and learning systems operate, and on the returns to educational investments.

Within Beyond 20/20, the OECD Education Statistics are presented in the following tables. (Note: some tables will include missing data.)

Education Expenditures by Country, Nature, Resource Category and level of education
This table contains education expenditures of or for institutions. Expenditures are classified by education levels, by type of institution (public, government dependent private, and independent private) and by the nature of the expenditure (target of expenditures within the institution).
Years covered: 1985 onwards.

Education Expenditure by Country, Source, Type of Transaction and level of education
This table contains education expenditures for institutions at different education levels. Expenditures are classified by source of funds (government, private, international agencies, etc.) and by type of transaction (grant or loan, direct expenditure, transfers, etc.).
Years covered: 1985 onwards.

Education personnel
The table contains education statistics. For each country, the number of educational personnel are provided in terms of type of institution (public, government-dependent private, independent private), personnel category (teaching staff, administrative, other support staff, etc.), employment status (full-time, part-time, full-time equivalent), level of education, age group, and gender.
Years covered: 1998 onwards.

This table contains education statistics. For each country, foreign students enrolled are listed by citizenship, resident status, gender, education levels, programme destination (further education or labour market), and by type of institution (public, government dependent private, and independent private).

The table contains education statistics. For each country, the number of graduates by age is provided in terms of programme duration, programme destination (further education, labour market), type of programme (general, vocational), institution type (public, private, government-dependant private), level of education, and gender. This table uses the normal count.

To access the ESDS International macro-economic datasets you must be a user from a UK higher or further education institution. We cannot provide data to users outside of this community due to the data re-distribution license agreements we have with our data providers. If you are a member of a UK higher or further education institution access to the macro-economic datasets is provided free of charge.

Access to data requires ESDS registration and uses the Federated Access / Athens authentication system. Registration is a simple online process - go to the How to Register web page at www.esds.ac.uk/aandp/access/login.asp to begin the process.

Once you have registered with ESDS and attempt to access one of the macro-economic datasets, you will automatically be prompted to agree to additional dataset specific conditions if they apply.
