Each time data is downloaded from Beyond 20/20, citation information is included at the top of the download file. This short guide will show you how to find the citation. It is available as both a screencast and a guide

Once you have selected your data, click the download icon, and select the format of your choice.
The next page will show a Download link, click Download
You can now see the data you downloaded in the format you selected. Towards the top of the file you can see the citation information.
When you use the data you should simply cut and paste this into your references section of your work. The citation in the above example is:
International Monetary Fund (2011): Direction of Trade Statistics (Edition: Sept 2010). ESDS International, University of Manchester. DOI: 10.5257/imf/dots/2011-09
Notice that there is a DOI (Digital Object Identifier). A DOI is a string of numbers and letters which provide a means of persistently identifying an object on a digital network; information about a digital object may change over time, including its URL, but its DOI name will not change.
If anyone wants to find out about the data that has been cited, they would simply input '10.5257/imf/dots/2011-09' into a DOI resolver (e.g. http://dx.doi.org/) and would then be taken to a web page providing information about the IMF DOTS at ESDS International and how to access it.
