What is the purpose of these e-learning materials?
These e-learning materials have been developed to address a gap in teaching and learning provision at ESDS International identified through consultation with our user community. They have been designed as an interactive online set of materials to be used as a self-teaching resource, but either the whole set of materials or individual sections can be incorporated into teaching sessions or linked to from course websites.
Intended to raise awareness of the potential use of quantitative international data in research and teaching the focus of the materials is a key socio-economic theme - the Millennium Declaration and the United Nations Millennium Development Goals.
Who can use them?
The materials are freely available to all though are aimed primarily at UK Further and Higher Education learners with basic computer skills (e.g. ability to use internet, Excel etc - though the materials will include information directing learners to other resources for learning basic computer skills where appropriate) and to those accustomed to some form of online teaching and/or learning.
It is worth noting that access to international macro data at ESDS International is restricted to researchers and students at UK Further and Higher Education institutions, though where possible the materials will include links to equivalent freely available data sources.
