Guide to European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions datasets

The European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions (Eurofound) is a European Union body, one of the first to be established to work in specialised areas of EU policy. Eurofound's role is to provide information, advice and expertise on living and working conditions, industrial relations and managing change in Europe for key actors in the field of EU social policy on the basis of comparative information, research and analysis.

Eurofound - ESDS data holdings

The following Eurofound data are available via ESDS International:

  • European Quality of Life Survey (EQLS)
    This survey was carried out in 2003 and 2007 covering around 30 countries. The survey examines a range of issues, such as employment, income, education, housing, family, health, work-life balance, life satisfaction and perceived quality of society.

  • European Working Conditions Survey (EWCS)
    This survey provides an overview on the state of working conditions throughout Europe, as well as indicating the nature and content of changes affecting the workforce and the quality of work.

  • Establishment Survey on Working Time and Work-Life Balance (ESWT)
    This survey aims to map working time policies and practices at the level of the establishment in the European Union and to survey the views of the different actors at establishment level on these policies and practices.

Users registered with the Economic and Social Data Service (ESDS) have access to the Eurofound datasets in SPSS, STATA and tab-delimited formats, via the instant download service or on CD. The data are available to all registered users for not-for-profit purposes. Commercial orders require depositor permission. User guides and questionnaires can be downloaded by registered and non-registered users from the ESDS catalogue.
