Heath Survey for England Ethnic Boost (1999 and 2004)

ESDS Government has written a detailed briefing note on how to use the 2004 Health Survey for England (HSE) weights. General guidance notes on pooling HSE data from 1999 and 2004 for comparing ethnic differences are also available.

Two new frequently asked questions on these topics have been added to the HSE FAQs web page:

• How do I use the weights in the 2004 ethnic boost dataset if combining the general population and ethnic boost files?
• How do I use the Health Survey for England individual weights if I’m pooling the data from the 1999 and 2004 datasets (ethnic boost years)?

HSE Teaching Dataset

The Health Survey for England, 2002, Teaching Dataset is available (Study Number: 5033). The dataset can help class tutors to incorporate empirical data into their courses and thus develop students' skills in quantitative methods of analysis and their knowledge of large-scale government surveys.
