Notes from the GHS

Question

The SIC codes used in the 1998 GHS have no labels.

Answer

SIC90 is SIC92. Back in the early 90s, SSD was not able to use codes with decimal points etc., so it was translated into 3 digit codes by LFS. It's now part of SSD harmonised code, but most surveys don't use it. I have tracked down documentation which shows the correspondence between SIC92 and SIC90. However, it's so old that I can't trace an electronic version of it. I'll have it photocopied and send it by post.
