I cannot find a detailed ethnicity variable in the
GHS (2001-2002) - the individual client file. ETHNIC2 and ETHGP2 are very
general pan-ethnic variables (White versus non-White in the former, and White,
South Asian, Black etc. in the latter) whilst the detailed variables HRPETH
and FUHETH do not apply to all persons.

NB: this was confirmed – ONS
had taken ETHNIC off the dataset for confidentiality reasons. However, after
negotiation with ESDS Government, ONS agreed to re-add this data and it has
since been added to the 2001 dataset and will be retained in post-2001 datasets.
