SN:OMNIBUS TIME USE MODULE MAY 1995 Respondents were asked to code their major activity in each of the 96 quarter hour periods throughout the day, according to a coding frame given in the documentation and consisting of 30 separate activity codes. One activity code, no 30, is the 'Other, not elsewhere specified' category which was used if respondents were not sure which activity to use. If the interviewer was able to 'backcode' this in the field they did so. Any remaining code 30s were also checked at the data entry stage and again backcoded into one of the other categories where appropriate. File a3951uab.pdf is of poor quality. This is due to the original documentation, which was not of a high standard. Also the year on page 1 section 2 refers to 1975: this should read 1995. 4-12-98. File may95tu.por has a warning: in at least one case, the value of the weight variable was zero, negative, or missing. Such cases are invisible to statistical procedures and graphs which need positively weighted cases, but remain on the file and are processed by non-statistical facilities such as LIST and SAVE. 27-11-98.
