To co-ordinate the views of academics, the ESRC set up a working party on the 1991 Census which conducted this survey, and eventually reported back to the Census Offices.

A similar survey, for the 2001 Census, was conducted in 1997 by Professor Philip Rees : the data from this study are held at the Data Archive under SN:3950.

Main Topics:

Variables
Perceived importance of census topics.
