Uploading data to UKDA-store

Once your project data and documentation have been prepared, the following steps should then be completed:

  1. Registration and login

First time users must register with UKDA-store via Login using federated access management user authentication. You will need to use your UK HE/FE institutional login credentials (institutional username and password), after selecting your institution from the drop-down list.

If you do not have a UK HE/FE institutional username/password, the instructions on how to register are on the ESDS web site. Select the option to apply for a UK Data Archive username and password. Once you have received these you can use them to log in to UKDA-store using federated access management user authentication, selecting the UK Data Archive as the institution.

When you first log in, you will be asked to register by providing:
    • a username to identify you within UKDA-store - use your institutional username or create a new one
    • your name
    • you email address
    and
    • accepting the UKDA-store terms and conditions

  2. Create a UKDA-store project and deposit data

The first step is to create a new project in UKDA-store, by entering your ESRC award number. This will retrieve your award details from the ESRC Research catalogue and prefill part of the metadata form for UKDA-store.

All new project records must be created by the Principal Contributor (ESRC award holder).

After creating a new project, the metadata record can be added to and updated and data and documentation files can be uploaded.

Please follow the step-by-step UKDA-store user guide. Detailed help information is also available in the UKDA-store help guide.

  3. Publish your data

Please see: Publishing data in UKDA-store
