ESRC Research Programmes

ESRC Research Programmes may oversee and manage many different types of data at different stages of the research process and data lifecycle. To help Programme Offices co-ordinate and plan their programme's data management and future data submissions, our data inventory template can be used.

Detailed best practice guidelines on how to create and manage data have been developed by the UK Data Archive.

Programme co-ordinators can consult our general advice for ESRC Research Centres and for ESRC award holders.

Research programmes may want to consider the approach of the Rural Economy and Land Use Programme (RELU) towards managing and sharing data. This cross-research council funded programme has its own RELU Data Support Service to provide advice and guidance to researchers on data management planning and data sharing. The Research Data Management Support Services team has been working closely with the RELU Data Support Service.

If you would like to discuss any of these issues further or would like us to join one of your programme meetings to discuss data issues, contact the Research Data Management Support Services team at acquisitions@esds.ac.uk or telephone: +44 (0)1206 872974.

ESDS also runs a programme of training workshops covering managing and sharing research data, including events specifically for large-scale ESRC investments.
