Offer data for deposit
STEP 1:
Complete a
Data Review Form
Details of all quantitative and qualitative data from your award should be submitted on the same Data Review Form.
Samples of data - anonymised if necessary - as well as all relevant documentation, e.g. questionnaires, methodologies, consent
agreement should be included for review purposes.
STEP 2:
Return the form electronically to acquisitions@esds.ac.uk
or send the form along with data sample files via the University of Essex ZendTo Service.
Data files should not be sent via email but sent via the University of Essex ZendTo Service,
addressing the deposit to email account "acquisitions@essex.ac.uk" and noting the award holder surname in the dropbox description. If sample files contain sensitive or personal
information they should be encrypted, for example using AxCrypt, before sending. Alternatively data files can be posted on CD or other media to:

according to the instructions provided in the email.
Please allow sufficient time towards the end your project to prepare the materials for submission.
Process
The ESDS Acquisitions Review Committee formally reviews all data offers against
specific criteria. For example, the data collection must:
-
have no ethical, legal or rights issues which might prevent sharing
-
have sufficient documentation to enable secondary use of data
-
be in a condition and format suitable for accession
ESDS will make a decision as to whether the collection can be accessioned for
long-term preservation as part of the UK Data Archive collection or whether it
should be shared via the self-archiving system
UKDA-store. UKDA-store enables ESDS to include a wider and broader
range of research materials than it would normally handle and thus make them
available to others.
For further details on the UK Data Archive accessions criteria, see its Collections Development Policy.
